Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Accountant to join a privately owned manufacturing SME based in Bridgend, South Wales.  You can expect to achieve a salary up to £25,000, working Monday-Friday office-based hours.

This role will offer the opportunity to build on existing finance skills to progress to a Management Accountant.

 

The Role

Supporting the finance manager, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of Accounts Payable.

You will also produce the monthly finance pack and ensure timely execution of day-to-day tasks and effective financial management and control across the business.

Duties:

  • Complete responsibility for multi entity Accounts Payable function – including invoice registration, supplier statement reconciliations and BACS run.
  • Manages UK payroll and outsourced payroll of 2 foreign entities.
  • Supports Finance Manager to ensure:
    • Maintenance and control of Finance processes and continuous improvement in Finance operations.
    • On time delivery of relevant statutory and internal reports.
    • Streamlining of processes and improving service delivery of Finance Team.
    • Timely execution of month end responsibilities and production of KPI’s.
    • Identification of areas for the Finance Team to add value.
    • The smooth running of the department.
  • Month-end responsibilities including general accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Support Finance Manager to deliver on time against Budget, Forecast and Year-end process.
  • Oversee corporation tax data collection.
  • To undertake reporting to HMRC, ONS and other external organisations as required.
  • Manage R&D Grant Claim evidence.
  • Manage insurance administration.

 

The Person

The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background and actively studying towards an accountancy qualification such as CIMA / ACCA (study support available) or recently completed an Accounting or equivalent degree. Prior experience working within a finance function of a manufacturing business. Other candidates will be considered with relevant skills, experience and potential.
